Tech Task #8

November 7, 2007

We were asked to create a slideshow or scrapbook of four pages to depict our lives. I have chosen the scrapbook method and I hope you understand where I am coming from.

I really enjoyed this project and I hope you can enjoy it as well!

My Life

Why me?

October 30, 2007

Last week was not a good one. I was doing very well as the first one to move away from home. In two months I had yet to miss home until last week it really hit me. And it hit me hard. Stress was everywhere I looked and everything I encountered, but why? Why did one test that I prepared myself really well for cause so much of it? Why did it make me miss home so much? I was afraid, scared, worried, and mostly alone. When I was at home my mom and I were good ‘buds’, we faught occasionally, and when we did it wasn’t usually fun, but in the end she was always there for me. Now that I am here I have lost that secureness and the ability to ask for help and get it right away. I have lost my momma, but not the way my momma lost her momma when my momma was my age (that was a tongue twister in a way) I didn’t have a good week, I ended up having to phone my mom every night in tears. This weekend I wish to travel home to see her. I am not going home for the long weekend and won’t be able to see her then so I need to go this weekend. I miss my mom and lil’ bro, not to forget my baby (for those of you not keeping up with my blog I am not a mother, I have a cat I refer to as my baby)

Grad

Here are the videos that our class had at our grad ceremonies:

I am always told I look like Katherine and now today when I did this, even the computer thinks I do. Once I even heard I look like Rachel McAdams.

Family Game Night

September 24, 2007

Well Family Game Night came and went. It was so much fun and I can not wait to do it again. We began the night with some supper that the boys had made for us, the girls, very tasty it was indeed. We then began a serious and fierce game of Monopoly, challenging our skills and having fun along the way. One of the boys’ tip, “I only give away the small bills so it looks like I have a lot when all I have are the big bills” This may have been true at the beginning, but sometimes you need to give those away too so that you can pay your rent. Monopoly was awesome and I am very proud to say, Boo Ya I won!!!! Then we ate some good old fashioned ice cream and did my psychology homework. It actually wasn’t homework, it was a game to see how well a person’s mind works. Family Game Night was a blast and will surely have to occur again…next time I heard it is themed in the 70’s, we are not losers at all, in fact we are the coolest cats around…When was the last time you played Monopoly? Thats right, its a classic, no one can turn it down. Next week: The Game of Life!!!! Stay posted

Tawna

Tech Task #1

September 6, 2007

a) My name is Tawna. I come from a “medium” sized town with about twenty-five hundred people. In my graduating class there was forty-five people so not too small but not too big. I do not have any hobbies, except that I like my cat, Simba, and I like to hang out with him. In my family I have a little brother who is not that little, rather tall and three stepsisters.

b) I like computers and feel somewhat familiar with them, however I like to learn new things as well that will help me out with whatever I am trying to do. I basically only use computers for school use and for connecting with friends and family.

c) I feel that computers could potentially take education to new levels, especially since we watched those videos of other schools using technology today, I know its possible. However, I do feel there are limits towards students privacy and well being that needs to be protected and become first priority. I feel that in the younger grades such as K-6 it is important that their family members as well as friends and relatives can potentially see what they are doing at school. I think that there is a way to use computers in the classroom for the older students and I am willing to learn these methods. I think the technology should be used to help the students and families connect and learn with each other. I do not feel that such things as Facebook are helping students learn in anyway, but more of a distraction keeping them from things that they should be doing.

d) I hope that this class teaches me things that I can use within the classroom to help me teach students. I hope that Alec can teach us things that he has learned that would benefit us within our teaching proffession as well. My experience with technology is not outstanding but I have always been able to acomplish what I needed to with what I already know.
