PowerPoint
September 30, 2007
When I was in school, like back in the day (just kidding, I just graduated), PowerPoint was a cool tool that your teacher let you use if she was being nice. you used it basically to put up your entire presentation on the wall, bore all of your classmates including your teacher and never really new how to make it better. But now that we are using it in ECMP, when I am a little older and a little wiser plus a lot more interesting, we are doing things with PowerPoint I should have been doing years ago. For instance, timing the slides so that you don’t have to click every single item onto the page, not putting the entire presentation on each slide and beefing it up with sound and pictures. Now I know how to use PowerPoint to explain lessons, make presentations to the public and even teach my students how to use it. Thank you ECMP for not embarrassing me in my future career.
Stress…A Whole New World
September 15, 2007
In high school, I was a good student. A perfect student actually. I got my homework done, worked in class, payed attention, got excellent marks and was highly involved. But here at university, it is a whole new ball game. There is so much homework to be done. So much reading to be read. So many notes to take. So many people I do not know. There are projects to be worked on. Assignments to be finished. And it all overlaps, when will I get a break. When will I get to enjoy this new part of my life. When will the stress subside. Does it? I am used to stress. I work well in stress. However, this is a lot and its all different. No one here looks after you, it’s everyman for himself. They don’t remind you when your assignments are due. What you should be reading or what you should be remembering. I need them to keep important dates flushed in our head and not let us forget them. I need them to care about how we are doing and not just know us by our student number. I want the stress to go away so that I can learn and enjoy this new part of my life!
