Tinkerbell

November 28, 2007

I believe that I have spoken of my best friend before from Moosomin, Kristi. Well she is a very prestigious figure skater and enlightens those around her. She is a very small and quiet young woman who amazes anyone that she skates for. Kristi has competed at many competitions across Canada and has met some astounding people within the figure skating industry. She has done pair skating as well and leaves every crowd breathless with her talent. This year she has chosen to skate with Disney on Ice: Princess Wishes before she continues her education. I have recently found a video of the very show that Kristi is on. Kristi began as Dopey for this show but quickly amazed the production coordinators and was promoted to Tinkerbell. You can see Kristi right at the beginning of this clip and near the end.

Here is another clip and it announces Tinkerbell’s entrance:

Tech Task #6

November 28, 2007

Throughout this tech task we were asked to create a short video in commercial length and edit it. Our group consisted of Tara Straker, Megan Beisel and Tawna Bartley and we chose to edit our video using the Mac computers and iMovie, seeings as how none of us had a lot of experience with Mac computers. We chose to make our video on the current CUPE strike that is affecting many of us students around campus. Enjoy!

Where I come from

October 22, 2007

I come from a small town and when someone from Moosomin or surrounding areas does something interesting or exciting or ‘makes it big’ the entire community is proud and celebrates with you. For instance, when I graduated from high school I received numerous awards, but everyone in the community knew and surrounding areas and congratulated me whenever they saw me. My best friend is currently skating with Disney on Ice- Princess Wishes, she is Tinkerbell and the other evening I saw a picture of the carriage she rides in. It is very neat and I wish I had the time and a bit more money so that I could go and see her, maybe at Christmas time I will find time. Kristi is one of those people from Moosomin that everyone is very proud of and feels connected to her. Another ‘red carpet’ citizen is my old hair dresser. Mindy used to cut my hair and is now appearing in Jason Blaine’s music video, “Rock in My Boots”. Mindy now belongs to a modeling agency here in the city, when there was a call out for this video she got the part. It is hard to see her in this version, so stay tuned on CMT for the video. Mindy is the one wearing a yellow shirt and the pink flower in her hair. Mindy also got to bring along a friend, her friend is the one with the pink shirt on. Enjoy!!!!

21st Century PowerPoint

October 2, 2007

Today in ECMP we began to use this free program that is offered on the internet. It is such a neat tool and could be used in any classroom to tell stories to students or even offer them todays lesson that they missed. It is so easy to use and could potentially help students in so many ways. Even your students could use this within a classroom. Kids could use their imagination and create their own virtual story on the internet. That way the students could share their stories with everyone, such as grandparents and parents, aunts and uncles along with friends and neighbors. Students will enjoy creating stories on the computer because it is much more interesting than the traditional way of pencil and paper. This magical tool is available at no charge to anyone, you just need an account and it can be found at voicethread.com I highly recommend using this tool within your classroom.
